OGUN STATE GOVERNMENT HINTS AT INCREASING THE 2025 BUDGET TO 1 TRILLION NAIRA

The Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun says the 2025 budget will be increased to one trillion naira compared to 703.03 billion naira recorded in 2024

Governor Abiodun made the disclosure this midweek during the Town Hall meeting on the 2025-2027 Medium Term Expenditure6p Framework(MTEF) and 2025 Budget held at Ijebu-Ode.

The governor who was represented by the Chief Economic Adviser and Commissioner for Finance Mr. Dapo Okubadejo explained that the state government has mapped out strategy to increase its internal generated revenue, IGR, to accommodate the increase in the annual budget

Mr governor while assuring the residents of improved budget performance next year said the increase in the annual budget would afford the government the opportunity to invest more capital in infrastructure, education, health, youth empowerment and other sectors for the benefit of the people of the state

He stated that the townhall meeting becomes expident for the people of ijebu division to make an input for proper implementation of the next year fiscal policy, adding that the meeting would be extended to other divisions across the state

Speaking on some of the projects undertook in ijebu division in the concurrent year, the governor informed that the state government has approved the reconstruction of Imoro-Imegun-Opopo road,Igbeba road to Eid praying ground to Prison on Igbeba road,

Others are the Imoru road in Ijebu-Ode and the Odolewu-Ladeshi-Ishiwo road in the Ogun East Senatorial district of the state.

Governor abiodun noted that despite the pressure on the available resources, he has also commenced the construction of over 64 kilometers of rural roads across the state.which according to him marks another significant steps in the life of the current administration in expanding the infrastructural development towards rural accessibility yo boost agricultural productivity in the state.

Also speaking, ,the Commissioner for Budget and Planning Mr Olaolu Olabimtan noted that no fewer than 377 inputs were recorded at Ijebu division during the last town Hall meeting in 2023 of which 340 inputs representing ninety percent were included in the budget.

The commissioner urged the residents to participate fully in the town hall meeting as it would serve as an opportunity to inform the government about their needs and how to improve on the state’s economy

The meeting was attended by dignitaries including government functionaries, traditional rulers, religious leaders, representatives of various ethnic groups, youths among others
