The Ogun State governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has called on the federal government to assist the state government towards the timely reconstruction of sagamu interchange-papalanto road as it plays a pivotal role in enhancing the commercial value of gateway inland dry port
Governor Abiodun, while speaking at the event held at kajola in Eweloro local government, on Friday explained that the road that link the site to the Lagos-ibadan expressway would help to accelerate movement of cargo from the dry port to other parts of the country
The governor explained that the groundbreaking is infulfilment of the vision of current administration towards the improvement on the socio-economic development of the nation in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola tinubu administration
He informed that the current administration since inception has conceived the idea with the hope of creating enabling environment for the various industries in the state to grow adding that it is another testament of his administration in implementing legacy projects that will transform the history of the state
The governor explained that the project was put in place as part of the state’s multi olmodal transport master plan designed as a mens of addressing the need for the provision of effective transport and logistics services across the state , owing to the state’s status as the nation’s industrial and investment hub
He added that having recognising that shipping services and movement of goods play important roles in global trade and commerce ,the state government has fashioned out a robust economic and industrial growth agenda for the state which according to him is targeted towards taking full advantage of its proximity to lagos
The governor posited that when fully operational, the inland dry port sited on 599 hectares of land would become a hub for the combination of mixed development of residences logistics infrastructure and new multi-modal infrastructure
The governor while urging the residents of the community to take ownership of the project noted that the project would change the narrative of the state by becoming the centre of business activities in the country
The first citizen of the gateway state commended the minister of Marine and blue Economy, alhaji gboyega oyetola for coming to the state to flag off the.project promising that his administration would continue to work towards instituting projects that would grow the state’s economy
