UK SETS TO PARTNER OGUN ON MANUFACTURING AND AGRICULTURE.

The determination of the current administration at the gateway state in revamping the state’s economy through public private partnership, PPP, this midweek received a boost as the United Kingdom set to partner the state government in the area of manufacturing, agriculture and human development

Addressing the delegates led by the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Richard Montgomery at okemosan Abeokuta during a courtesy call, Governor Abiodun explained that the state is open to foreign investments as the proposed five billion dollar used battery recycling manucturing company would bring about job opportunities, increase the state internally generated revenue, IGR, and improve on the standard of the living of the people of the state

The Governor who lauded the British government for their immense support to the state in the past described the proposed battery recycling company as a welcome development as it is in line with the vision of the state government in tackling the problem of environmental pollution

Acknowledging the state as the hub of industries in the country, Mr governor stated that his government has introduced and implemented many reforms that have encouraged more investors into the state adding that the state government has concluded plans to invest in the generation and transmission of electricity for the usge of large number of industries across the state

Governor Abiodun noted that there has been a massive transformation of the state through a huge infrastructure, adding that his aim is to make the state the investor destination of choice.

The first citizen of the gateway state assured that the state government would provide the necessary logistics in ensuring that the partnership yields a fruitful development for the state andtl the nation at large

Governor Abiodun noted that the state has a landmark of about seventeen kilometres with a large deposit of natural resources such as Limestone which according to him has made the state the home of the largest cement factory in the country stressing that his government has also invested in agriculture as the highest producer of poultry products, rice, Cassava among others

Earlier, the British High Commissioner, Mr Richard Montgomery in a remark commended governor dapo Abiodun for the various initiative which he said has helped to change the narrative of the state

The High Commissioner explained that the reason behind the visit is to assist the developmental agenda of the current administration through financial advisory and by encouraging investors from the United kingdom to come to the state in order to tap from its abundant available resources
