The Ogun State government has called for the establishment of Nigerian army federal operations base, FOB, in the Ogun East senatorial districts to checkmate the rate of crimes in the axis
Governor dapo Abiodun made the call on Wednesday while playing host to General Commanding Officer, GOC, 81 division, incharge of Lagos and Ogun states, Major- General Farouk Mijinyawa and his team at Oke- Mosan Abeokuta
Governor Abiodun explained that the operation base would help to minimise crime rate arising as a result of the enhanced commercial activities in the area coupled with the establishment of the Gateway agro cargo international airport and its closeness to Lagos State which according to him has attracted a large number of people from Ogijo and ikorodu to Sagamu and its environs
The governor who expressed worry over the incessant problem of kidnapping and cult activities within the area stated that the current administration can not handle the issue of security with levity being the industrial hub of the nation
Acknowledging the importance of effective security architecture,Mr. Governor promised that the state government would provide all the necessary logistics to accelerate the establishment of the operation base
He informed that the state government and the Nigerian airforce have concluded plans to establish airforce base at the waterside in ogun waterside local government to fortify security arrangements in the riverrine area
Commending the nigerian army for their support, the governor assured that his administration would continue to empower the security agencies to strengthen the state’s security architecture
He noted that the synergy between the Nigerian army and other sister security agencies have made the state to be one of the peaceful states in the country
The GOC, major-general farouk Mijinwaya in a remark thanked governor Abiodun for assisting the security outfit promising that he would improve on the existing relationship between the state and the nigerian army
