The Society of Nigerian Broadcasters (SNB) has elected its first executive members during its 1st National Conference in Abuja.
The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Kashere, Gombe State, Professor Umar Pate, emerged as President with 231 votes, while Mr. Okoduwa Eigbebor of the National Broadcasting Commission secured 12 votes.
In his acceptance speech, Prof. Pate pledged to elevate the Society by securing local and international funding to support its activities.
He emphasized the importance of training and retraining members.
The President also highlighted the SNB’s role as a professional body for Nigerian broadcasters, distinct from a trade union, pointing out that the body is committed to enhancing members capacity building.
The remaining positions were uncontested, with all candidates returned unopposed.
The SNB’s 1st National Conference will conclude with a gala and award night later tonight.
