The Ogun State government has promised to conduct the 2023/24 promotion exercise to avoid backlog in the state
Governor dapo Abiodun made the promise this thursday at the grand finale of 2024 public service symposium week with a theme ” building a socially responsive public service in the 21st century; The.place of ethics and values held at the oba’s Palace, okemosan Abeokuta
The governor who described the public service as the engine room of his government said he would direct the head of service, Mr kehinde Onasanya to put a mechanism in place in conducting the promotional exercise assuring that his current administration would continue to implement policies that will enhance the capability of the workers
Mr. Governor, who commended the head of service, Mr Onasanya for his uprightness and diligence in providing good leadership to the workers said the occasion is an opportunity to thank the public servants for their commitment and resilience in the face of various challenges
Mr governor noted that since inception of his government, he has introduced many programs such as capacity building for the workers both home and abroad, regular payment of salaries and allowances, payment of leave bonuses and settlement of outstanding deductions and provision of food palliatives for the workforce to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal
Commending the workers for their dedication and commitment to duties, the governor said the current administration has enjoyed uninterrupted peaceful relationship with the workers, which he said has given the government the opportunity to perform creditably
Mr. Governor, while describing the theme of the event as apt, stated that ethics and values are the backbone of building a virile society that must be upheld by the workers for effective service delivery and promotion of good conduct
The first citizen of the gateway state urged the workers to be steadfast to the ethics of the state public service by avoiding unwholesome practices that may affect the agenda of the current administration in building the future of the state together
