Capacity building and skills development have been described as veritable tools in human resources management that should be embraced by all workers for maximum productivity.
The Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya made this known in his office at Oke- Mosan, Abeokuta while playing host to the members of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM), led by its National President and Chairman of the Governing Council, Mallam Ahmed Gobir.
Mr. Onasanya said capacity building is very important as one of the core values of the institute that possesses professional skills in training and personnel development.
The Head of Service said Ogun State is apt in training the workforce because of its strategic approach to the state economic development which has continue to impact the various sector of the economy plan adding that the State would continue to collaborate with CIPM in the area of skills acquisition and capacity building to engender operational effectiveness of government business.
The Head of Service said the State Government has continued to expose Civil Servants to the core values of the Institute in terms of conference attendance and training programmes.
He congratulated the President and his team for emerging victorious in the election that brought him in and said that the members voted for the quality in him and his commitment to the ideals of CIPM coupled with his experience, exposure and competence with an assurance that the State would continue to upgrade its workers’ level of competence in collaboration with CIPM in order to match up to the State’s growing economy with the array of thoroughbred professionals in the Institute.
Mallam Ahmed Gobir in his remarks appreciated the State Government for the unflinching support received so far by the Institute at the chapter, branch and national levels and especially for support towards his candidacy before the overwhelming victory at the institute’s polls earlier in the year.
The President sought for the support of the state government in ratification of CIPM certification as a criteria for career progression in human resource/personnel management in the Civil Service amongst other needs tabled before the HoS for consideration.
