President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerian youth that their voices have been heard clearly and decisively.
In a nationwide address on Sunday, the President responded to the ongoing protests, which began on Thursday and have unfortunately resulted in the death of at least fifteen individuals, as well as extensive property damage and looting.
In the address, President Tinubu expressed his condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives during the protests.
He called for an end to further violence and destruction, stating, βI sympathize with the families of those who have died, and I call for an immediate halt to the bloodshed and chaos.β
President Tinubu emphasized his understanding of the underlying frustrations driving the demonstrations, affirming, βTo my fellow Nigerians, especially our youth, I want you to know that I hear you. I recognize the pain and frustration fueling these protests, and I assure you that our government is dedicated to addressing your concerns and working towards solutions.β
