The Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun on Tuesday was honoured as the patron of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations NIPR during the maiden edition of the Nigeria Public Relations Week ( NPRW) that was held in Abeokuta from Monday, 22nd to Friday, 26th of April,2022
Speaking after the investiture conducted by the President of the institute, Dr ike Neliaku along other members of the board at the maiden edition of Nigeria Public Relations week with the theme ” Leveraging Public Relations as a critical asset for Nigeria’s economic and reputation renaissance held at June 12 cultural centre, Abeokuta ,governor Abiodun thanked the institute for the honour promising that he would abide by the tenets of the institute
The governor called on the Public Relation practitioners to use their profession to project positively the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in order to attract more foreign investments into the country
Governor Abiodun emphasised that the objectives of promoting the image and integrity of the nation is a task for every Nigerian that needs to be seriously embraced but not leaving it out to the government alone.
He noted that some of the economic policies such as the removal of fuel subsidy and the floating of naira introduced by the government at the centre to revamp the nation’s economy has started yielding positive results as the local currency gains momentum daily
He explained that the state government since inception has embarked on massive infrastructural amenities towards creating an enabling environment to improve on ease of doing business in the state which he said has made the state to be a choice of investment and fastest growing economy in the country
The governor while promising of more developmental projects across the state, said that the current administration has constructed over 500 kilometres of roads across the state yo ease movement of the people, rehabilitated one hundred primary health centres, PHCs and built over four thousand affordable housing scheme which according to him is more than what his predecessors have done in the history of the state
The president of the institute, Dr ike neliaku, in a remark said governor Abiodun was confered with the title in accordance with the constitution of the institute that allowed it to honour any governor in the country that has impacted significantly in developing his state.
Governor Abiodun later announced the donation of a brand new 18- Seater Bus to the Ogun State Chapeter of the Institute , a promise which was fulfilled in.less than three hours to the pronouncement as the car key was headed over to the Chairman of the State Council, Mrs. Seun Boye, same day at Oke- Mosan Abeokuta by the Secreaty to the State Governor, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, in Company of the new Head of Service, Mr Kehinde Onasanya
