The Ogun State Government says it will continue to prioritise the welfare and well-being of its workforce.
The governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, stated this at the flagoff of the sale of rice to workers at a discounted rate,held at oja irorun, okemosan,Abeokuta
Represented by the head of service, Mr Kehinde Onasanya, governor Abiodun, said the administration will continue to recognise the civil servants’ dedication and hardwork which forms the bedrock of the progress and prosperity of the state.
He pointed out that the government has devoted concerted efforts towards ensuring that the workforce and the entire people of the state are shielded from the effects of the removal of the fuel subsidy by the federal government.
Prince Abiodun added that the decision to offer discounted rates is a testament to the belief that a well nourish workforce is a more robust and productive workforce.
Earlier in a welcome address, the permanent secretary Bureau of establishment and training, Mrs Lydia Fajounbo,said the programme is one of the several initiatives of the state worker- friendly governor at cushioning the effects of the fuel subsidy removal.
She explained that, the programme, which is for officers of grade level 1-7, is just a starting point.
Meanwhile, in a goodwill message, the state chairman joint national public service negotiating Council,comrade Isa Olude ,appreciated the governor Prince Dapo Abiodun for keeping to his promise of alleviating the effects of the removal of fuel subsidy
He assured that the gesture would not be taken for granted, saying that the civil servants would continue to be dedicated to the service of the state.
Also speaking, the state chairman of the Nigeria Union Congress, Comrade Ahmed Benco Ademola, described the current administration in the state as a listening government that has been trying to promote the welfare of the workers.
According to him, the programme showed that the government knows what its workers are going through, describing it as commendable.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke in an interview expressed appreciation to the Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration for the opportunity.
