The Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has called for a symbiotic relationship between the government and the people for the growth of the nation
Governor Abiodun made the call on sunday while speaking at the 2024 iftar and annual Ramadan lecture with the theme ” Nation Building: Shared responsibility of government and the governed,” organised by the state government held at the Arcade ground, Oke- Mosan Abeokuta
The governor emphasized that when there is understanding between the government and the governed, it would promote good governance and also help to resolve some of the various challenges affecting the nation
Governor Abiodun therefore urged the people to continue supporting president Bola Ahmed Tinubu with prayers in his efforts of revamp the nation’s economy, noting that some of the programs and policies implemented by the government at the centre have started yielding positive results
Mr. Governor, while congratulating the Muslim on this year’s Ramadan advised them to imbibe the teachings of the Holy month by being their brothers’ keepers as preached by prophet Muhammad
He assured that his administration would continue to put in place various interventions to make life more meaningful to the people of the state
The guest lecturer, Professor Tajudeen Yusuf harped on the need for the government to be transparent and rule with the fear of God in accordance with the tenets of Islam, while imploring the people to support the government by being honest and performing their expected duties under the law towards the sustenance of good governance in the state and across the country
The event was attended by members of the state Executive Council, including the Deputy Governor, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedele, members of national and state assembly, government functionaries, traditional rulers, members of the ruling party, all progressive Congress, APC and the general public
