As part of the efforts to mitigate the ongoing economic downturn in the country, the Ogun State government has concluded plans to inject a total sum of five billion naira into the state’s economy for the benefit of the residents
Governor dapo Abiodun let this out this midweek while briefing newsmen at the Olusegun Osoba press Centre, okemosan Abeokuta
The governor who lauded the people of the state for their perseverance, tolerance and endurance in face of the food inflation and other economic challenges, said the state government was not unmindful of the challenges which necesitated the implementation of various interventions to cushion the effects of the current economic hardship in the country
While rolling out some of the interventions already put in place by his government, governor Abiodun informed that in the education sector, all the indigent students in the both primary and secondary schools in the state totalled 100,000 students would enjoy a sun of #10,000 as education grants with minimum five exercise books each to 850,000 students in the punlic primary schools,while the indigent students in the tertiary institutions amounted to 27,600 would benefit a sum of fifty thousand naira each
In the health sector, the governor said 70,000 residents including market women,pregnant women, children and aged ones would benefit from the state health insurance scheme worth eighteen thousand naira each adding that all pregnant women would enjoy free antenatal and post-natal care known as Ibidero with a take home of five thousand naira
The governor added that more food palliatives such as rice, garri and other easily procurable food items would be provided for 450,000 households in Ogun state.
On worker’s welfare, Mr governor informed that his administration is committed to offsetting backlog of inherited deductions through the.payment of five hundred million naira on monthly basis as worker’s continued to enjoy the ten thousand naira monthly transport allowance with other incentives
The governor while commending president Bola Ahmed Tinubu for being passionate about the welfare of Nigerians through implementation of various interventions to ameliorate the suffering of Nigerians promised that the ongoing hardship in the country will soon fizzle out
He however urged the people of the state and Nigerians at large to continue to support the renewed hope agenda of the current administration of President Bola Ahmed tinubu
