EMBRACE PATRIOTISM, GOVERNOR ABIODUN TELLS NIGERIANS.

Nigerians have been admonished to embrace the spirit of patriotism in the interest of unity and nation-building

The Ogun State governor, prince Dapo Abiodun, gave the admonition on  monday while addressing newsmen at the 2024 armed forces remembrance day held at arcade ground, Abeokuta

Governor Abiodun who expressed optimism that the nation would be great again urged Nigerians to shun acts of violence or any acts that is capable of truncating the peace of the nation

Mr governor pleaded with Nigerians not to sow seed of discord or fanning ember of hatred but uphold optimism by believing in their leaders and spirit of brotherhood

While commending members of the armed forces who laid down their lives for the protection of the territorial integrity of the nation, governor Abiodun explained that the occasion serves as another avenue to remember the souls of those that died defending the nation against external aggression and internal conflict imploring members of the public to assist the families of the fallen heroes as government alone cannot do it

The event was attended by dignitaries including the deputy governor, engineer Mrs noimot salako-oyedele, members of the state assembly led by the Speaker, right honourable olakunle oluomo, government functionaries, heads of security agencies in the state, traditional rulers among others

Meanwhile,the ultimate price paid by the nation’s fallen heroes were again acknowledged on  Monday at the special parade/laying of wreath ceremony marking this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration in Ogun state.

At the event which took place at the arcade ground,Okemosan, Abeokuta, the governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun inspected the special parade comprising the Nigerian Army,the Nigerian Navy and the Nigerian Legion guards .

The laying of wreaths was performed by governor Abiodun, service chiefs,the state chairman of the Nigerian Legion,Master Warrant Officer Olumuyiwa Orukotan,the four paramount rulers in the state,the speaker of the House of Assembly,the Chief Judge and the representative of the widows of the fallen heroes.

There was gun salute as well as the release of pigeons by Mr Governor.

Prayers were offered in Christian and Islamic ways for the peace of Nigeria and the families of the fallen heroes,the president as well as the governor and the people of Ogun state#
