The armed forces play crucial roles in defending the territorial integrity of the Nigerian nation.
The annual armed forces day celebration should therefore be a wake up call on the citizens to acknowledge the huge sacrifice made by service men and women by embracing peace and unity for national development.
Governor Dapo Abiodun stated these at a special jumat service marking the 2024 armed forces remembrance day celebration held at the central mosque, Kobiti, Abeokuta.
Represented by his deputy, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedele, the governor noted that the fallen heroes and those wounded while fighting Nigeria’s noble cause must be remembered at all times, urging Nigerians to always reflect on the ideals the they fought for.
While appreciating the selflessness and dedication of the armed forces, especially the fallen heroes who put their lives on the line to ensure the safety of the people as well as defend the entire nation against external threats, the governor emphasised the readiness of the government at staying ahead of evolving threats across the state.
Governor Abiodun who reteirated the commitment of the current administration to supporting the security outfits with a view to strengthening the security architecture of the state, said government will also continue to promote community engagement and participation with religious and traditional leaders on security matters.
Special prayers were offered for governor Abiodun, the state and federal governments as well as members of the armed forces at the special jumat.#
