WOMEN TOLD TO BE PILLAR OF SUPPORT TO THEIR KIND

Women have been charged on the need to support one another, especially those in positions of authority.

The Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedele gave the charge this Tuesday while receiving the representatives of the state commission of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS) led by the Chairperson, Comrade Adesola Olusoga.

According to the deputy governor, women will record more achievements in the society if they give one another the needed support and collectively kick against issues that constitute a cog in the wheel of their development.

Engineer Salako-Oyedele who pointed out that women are not meant to play second fiddle to their male counterparts, emphasised the need for women to rise to the challenge of tackling domestic and societal issues that affect them negatively.

While urging the ASUSS women commission to use their professional platforms as teachers well by increasing awareness against gender-based violence, she restated the commitment of the governor Dapo Abiodun-led administration to improving the welfare of the state workforce as well as maintaining cordial relationship with their unions.

Earlier, the chairperson of the ASUSS Women Commission, Comrade Olusola Adesoga acknowledged the support of the deputy governor at promoting the cause of the womenfolk,and facilitating various interventions on women development, saying the commission is committed to spearheading efforts against rape and other forms of gender-based violence within school communities and the society at large.

The commission’s representatives, during the courtesy visit, presented an Award of Outstanding Contributions to the Upliftment of Women to the deputy governor.#
