The incumbent governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo abiodun on Sunday emerged winner of the governorship election held in the state on Saturday
The Returning Officer in the state, professor kayode Adebowale announced that governor dapo Abiodun polled a total number of 276,298 votes while his closest competitor, Mr ladi adebutu of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, polled 262,383 votes with a difference of 13,915 votes to win the election
In his acceptance speech, governor abiodun while addressing members of the all progressives congress, APC, at the presidential Lodge, Abeokuta, appreciated God for the victory promising that he would continue to discharge his duties by being fair, transparent, equitable and following the rule of law assuring that he would. not develop any part of the state at the expense of others
Thanking the independent national electoral commission, INEC, for organising a credible election in the state, the governor lauded the security agencies, newsmen and the ruling party and its members for their support and for providing the platform to contest the election
He urged contestants from other political parties to join hands with him to reposition the state now that the election is over
