The Ogun state government will continue to work hand in glove with professional bodies towards achieving a more vibrant economy .
The governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun stated this while declaring open, the 6th national conference,induction and awards of the Institute of Cooperative Professionals of Nigeria(ICOPRON) held this Monday at the OOPL Auditorium,Abeokuta.
Mr Governor who said professional institutions like ICOPRON play critical roles in the socio-economic development of the state, noted that cooperative bodies have been at the forefront of stabilising the Nigerian economy.
He renewed government assurance on giving adequate support to cooperative societies across the state to enable them complement the efforts of the government at making the people economically stable.
In a remark, the chairman on the occasion,The Right Honourable Dimeji Bankole,represented by Barrister Lukmon Abdullahi described cooperative societies as key defining factors of the economy which equally help in the reduction of poverty among the citizens.
According to him, it is important that government at all levels empower cooperative societies for them to have multiplier effects on the nation’s economy for sustainable development.
Also speaking, the state commissioner for community development and cooperatives, Honourable Abayomi Hunye said cooperative societies are ingredients that spice the wellbeing of the national economy which must be given adequate support by all stakeholders.#
