The Ogun state government has lauded the Igbo community in the state for promoting peace and unity as well as facilitating smooth inter-tribal relationship.
Governor Dapo Abiodun gave the commendation at the 16th New Yam Festival of the state Eze Ndi Igbo held in Ifo on Sunday.
While giving kudos to the non- indigenes residing in the state for throwing their weight behind the current administration, the governor who was represented at the event by his deputy, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedele,noted that the igbo community is indeed contributing to the socioeconomic development of the state.
Governor Abiodun who assured the people of their continuous engagement by the government,called for the increased support of the Igbo community for the administration during the 2023 polls.
In a remark, the state Eze Ndigbo , Eze Willy Okonkwo thanked the government for making the environment conducive for the Igbo to live and transact business in the state, promising that the community would always be law abiding.
At the ceremony, the Eze Ndigbo conferred the title of Okurocha ,meaning,the symbol of peace on the Special Assistant to the governor on inter-ethnic affairs, Prince Hadi Sani while the TRACE commandant, Mr Seni Ogunyemi was conferred with that of Ogbuefi
