The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has said that the use of gas as a transition fuel would help in stemming deforestation and advancing Nigeria’s broader development goals.
Professor Osinbajo made this known during a meeting he had with former US Secretary of State and now Special Presidential envoy for climate, Mr. John Kerry in Abuja.
According to him, Nigeria had one of the largest gas reserves in the world, and deserve to benefit from its exploitation, adding that the country needs to intimate the exploration and use of gas as a way of arresting deforestation
He said it would also help in transiting away from.dirtier fuel like diesel, kerosene and petrol, while at the same time ensuring that the country had the necessary energy based load for Industriaisation.
