LEGAL YEAR; OGSG REITERATES COMMITMENT TO PROMOTING THE RULE OF LAW

The current administration will continue to build on the foundation of transparency, fairness,equity,accountability, justice and obedience to the rule of law.

Governor Dapo Abiodun gave the assurance this Monday at a special service marking the commencement of the 2022/2023 legal year held at the Central Mosque, Kobiti, Abeokuta.

Represented by his deputy, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedele, the governor reiterated the commitment of the government to the formulation of policies to ease the dispensation of justice across the state .

Governor Abiodun who pointed out that the state judiciary is acclaimed the cradle of the legal profession in Nigeria,charged the judiciary to be wary of selfish politicians who would want to take advantage of the judicial process to hinder the smooth running of the 2023 general elections through frivolous injunctions.

In a lecture entitled, ” peaceful co-existence in a multi-religious society: the role of Muslims”,the Chief Missioner, Forum for Cooperative Sermons ,Ibadan, Dr. Dawood Amoo called on Muslims to relate with the people of other faiths based on the Islamic rules of engagement.

The cleric reminded muslims that justice and peace are interdependent,urging them to ensure co-existence by making social justice their watchword.

While pointing out that those who claim to be muslims but are perpetrating evil and promoting terrorism are not followers of Allah, Dr Amoo emphasised that Islam promotes local,communal and international peace.

Prayers were offered at the service, by the Chief Imam of Egbaland, Alhaji Sa’adallah Bamgbola among other clerics, for the judiciary,the state and the the country at large.#
