The Ogun State government has assured the residents of the Lambe/Matogun area of Ifo local government whose properties were affected by the Saturday tanker explosion, of succour.
The Deputy Governor, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedele gave the assurance onĀ Sunday when she led government officials to the scene of the incident.
Addressing the residents,the Deputy Governor said the government sympathised with the victims over the loss,just as she expressed gratitude to God that no life was lost to the inferno.
According to her, officials of the state Emergency Management agency (SEMA) will this week assess the extent of the damage caused by the fire with a view to enabling government render palliative assistance to those affected,adding that governor Dapo Abiodun remains a people-friendly leader who cares about the welfare of the citizenry.
Engineer Salako-Oyedele also informed the people that the governor has already approved five contracts on the construction of the Sango/Ijoko raod and its environs,saying the people will soon heave a sigh of relief over the poor road network in the axis.
One of the residents who spoke with newsmen at the scene, Mrs Mercy Leke expressed gratitude to the government for the prompt visit to the scene of the fire incident, pleading for its increased efforts on road infrastructure in the area.
The commissioner for special duties,Hon. Femi Ilori,that of information and strategy, Alhaji Waheed Odusile and their counterpart in the culture and tourism ministry ,Honourable Adijat Adeleye-Oladapo were among the government functionaries who visited the fire scene.#
