SDG GOALS: OGSG PLEDGES IMPROVED SPENDING ON EDUCATION

The Ogun State government is committed to attaining the Sustainable Development Goal on education by ensuring the increased funding of the sector.

The deputy governor, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedele gave the assurance this Thursday while commissioning a block of 4 classrooms donated to the Local government school one, Ketere, Sango/Ota by Build A School Initiative for Africa (BASIA).

Describing education as a major pillar for development,the deputy governor said the current administration will continue to measure the indices in the sector with a view to repositioning it.

Engineer Salako-Oyedele commended BASIA for partnering the government towards meeting the infrastructure needs in primary schools.

In a remark, the President and CEO of BASIA, Dr Victor Ukorebi noted that the non-governmental organisation is saddled with the responsibility of reducing the number of out of school children on the African continent through the provision of infrastructure in schools.

According to him, the organisation will continue to support the agenda of the government on education,saying government alone cannot shoulder the responsibility of addressing the challenges in the sector.#
