Traditional rulers across the gateway state have been lauded for supporting the development efforts of the government.
Governor Dapo Abiodun gave the commendation this Thursday at a service marking the 5th coronation anniversary of the Ojotumoro of Abigi Kingdom, Oba Olusegun Ogunye held at Saint Thomas Anglican Church, Abigi in Ijebu Waterside local government.
Represented by his deputy, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedele, the governor noted the complementary roles of the traditional rulers in the development process, renewing the assurance of the even distribution of the dividends of democracy across the state.
Governor Abiodun therefore congratulated Oba Ogunye on the celebration just as he wished him continued peace in his domain.
In a sermon,the Vicar, Abigi Archdeaconry, Ijebu Anglican diocese, Venerable Sam Michael emphasised the importance of the traditional institution,saying monarchs are enthroned by God for effective service to mankind.
While noting that civilisation seems to have been eroding the exalted position of the traditional rulers,the cleric urged people to continue to accord them the deserved respect while also admonishing the obas to carry their subjects along with the fear of God especially as the 2023 general polls draw closer.
In a remark,Oba Ogunye expressed gratitude to God for helping him in the rulership of Abigi,praying for the development of the kingdom during his reign.#
