The Ogun State Government says it would be supporting over 100,000 women under the Nigeria For Women Project (NFWP), just as the project is set to be extended to seventeen other local government areas of the state.
Governor Dapo Abiodun who made this known at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta during the Women, Work and All-Round Wealth program organized by the office of the First Lady, explained that the focus of the project which was conceived by the world bank in conjunction with six other states with the support of the federal government is focusing on taking women in the state into affinity groups at the very lowest level in the community.
The state helmsman who noted that the affinity groups would focus on helping women in the state to build social capital, as well as teach them how to come together to support each other, added that the affinity groups was an opportunity to further institutionalize contributions between women.
Governor Abiodun also informed that women under the affinity groups would be taught livelihood programs, which according to him will help to promote financial literacy, business and advisory skills.
