For refusing to appear before the House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts PAC despite repeated invitations to answer queries raised by the Auditor’s General office on non rendering

of audited accounts over the years, Chief executives of FG Ministries, Departments and Agencies MDAs have been identified as agents out to sabotage the present administration’s Transparency and Accountability policy.

Committee chairman Rep Oluwole Oke who disclosed this Tuesday in Abuja at Public Hearing sittings with mostly MDs of River Basin Development Authorities issued those affected with last warnings, adding that such acts of insubordination will no longer be condoned.

This came to light following the failure of five of the CEOs of River Basins Development Authorities to honour today’s invitation notibg that by their inaction, they are obstructing president Buhari’s efforts at accountability and anti-corruption.

He expressed dismay over the lukewarm attitudes of the heads of the defaulting Agencies toward rendering accounts of the public funds appropriated to them running into several billions of Naira by the National Assembly on yearly basis.

He then ruled that after the very last chance the committee is extending to defaulting MDs,failure which the Committee will drag them before their employer who is President Muhammadu Buhari.

He was of the opinion that since the President gave them the opportunites to serve the country in various capacities, it is not best to pay him back by not rendering accounts of their steawardness to the Parliarment as required by law.

Those affected are: Sokoto Rima River Basin Development Authority, Hadejia Jama’re River Basin Development Authority, Borno State, Upper Benue Basin Development Authority, Yola, Adamawa State, Cross River Basin Development Authority, Cross River State and Anambra-Imo River Basin Development Authority.

The Committee requested them the Agencies to submit relevant documents that would assist in reconciling issues raised in the Auditor General’s queries before the date of their appearances before it and vowed that Parliarment would recover all misappropiated public funds as contained in the auditt queries.
