The Ogun state governor, Prince Dapo abiodun this Monday inaugurated a 8-man judicial panel headed by justice Solomon olugbemi rtd to investigate the alleged cases of police brutality and human rights abuses against citizens of the state
Inaugurating the committee at the exco chamber, okemosan, Abeokuta, Governor abiodun said the inauguration of the committee was in accordance with the resolution reached at the national economic council meeting held last week Tuesday presided over by the vice President, professor Yemi osibanjo to investigate the abuses by the police personnel in response to the ongoing nationwide endsars protest by the youths
The inauguration of the committee according to Governor abiodun was a further demonstration of the current administration’s commitment to the process of deepening the nation’s democracy and the determination of president Muhammad buhari led administration in finding long lasting solution to the issues raised by the youths
The governor further added that the committee would help to instill equity, justice and fairness which according to him would also serve as a big step to healing the wound of those unduly abused by the erring law enforcement agents
The Governor while rolling out the terms of reference for the committee expected two wind down in six months time said the committee was expected to evaluate evidence presented, draw conclusion as to the validity of the complaints, to recommend compensation and other remedial measures, where appropriate so cheques can be issued and to make recommendations to the government on how to ensure that security agencies no longer abuse the rights of the citizens

Urging the committee members to shun any act capable of jeopardizing the objective of setting up the committee, the number one man in the state appealed to stakeholders and the public to support the committe in its assignment
Responding, the chairman of the committee, Justice Solomon olugbemi who thanked governor Dapo abiodun for giving them the opportunity to serve in the committee assured that the committee would do its best in ensuing that people that comes before them get justice
