The Ogun state governor, Prince Dapo abiodun has promised to continue working towards the eradication of killer diseases in the state
Governor abiodun gave the assurance this Tuesday at okemosan in Abeokuta during the tree planting to commemorate the eradication of polio disease across Africa continent and Nigeria
The governor explained that since 2019 when the last polio disease was recorded at imeko afon, government embarked on proactive approach by making the polio vaccines available across the state for children immunization in order to eradicate the deadly disease
While describing every health challenge as an obstacle to personal growth and economic development,governor abiodun noted that over two million children under five years age had been immunized in the state during various supplementary immunization vaccine since the polio eradication began in Nigeria
Emphasing that the certification of nonexistence of polio virus in Africa continent by the world health organization,WHO, being celebrated was a result of collective efforts, the governor harped on the need for the sustenance of the success by intensifying on community involvement and establishment of emergency centres across the States in the country
Mr governor informed that government has provided vaccines at the all health facilities across the 236 wards and the local governments in the state as parts of the effort to sustain the achievement recorded imploring all the local government chairmen at the twenty local government to strengthen their campaign at the grassroot against the polio and all other child killer diseases
In a remark,representative of world health organization, WHO, Dr dele Davies commended governor Dapo abiodun for the laudable programs on health
Dr davies pointed out that since 2009 Ogun state has not recorded any case in the state as a result of the resilient of the state government
