The Ogun State government has again charged the people of the state ,particularly congregants to exhibit high level of responsibility in the fight to collectively contain the further spread of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic amongst the people.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr Tokunbo Talabi, gave the charge on Saturday when he led a delegation of the State taskforce on the reopening of worship centers to the Abeokuta District headquarters of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Oke-Ijeun, Abeokuta .
Mr .Talabi ,who was represented by a member of the taskforce and Commissioner for Culture and Tourism ,Dr .Toyin Taiwo advised the people ,particularly those who are eager to worship God as a fold to be aware that the pandemic was no child’s play as presumed in some quarters, stressing the need for all to play their part by adhering strictly to laid down preventive guidelines towards containing the deadly virus in the state.
Explaining that the Task Force was in the church to check the level of compliance with the new norm of observing social and physical distancing ,enforcement of the use of face mask, hand washing and decontamination of worship centers amongst others, he expressed satisfaction at the level of compliance with the COVID-19 guidelines by the church and its members.
“We are not here to embarrass anybody but just to ensure the compliance of the stated guidelines on how to effectively curb the spread of COVID-19 amongst the people” , the SSG emphasized.
Reeling out measures put in place by the church, the District Pastor, Pastor Moses Olaifa assured that the worship center would continue to monitor ,guide and regularly sensitise members on the deadly pandemic.
In a sermon during the service, the President of Ogun Conference of Seventh Day Adventist Church, Pastor Sunday Ogunsanya charged people not to allow challenges of life to take them away from God.
According to Pastor Ogunsanya, instead of murmuring while facing difficulties, Christians should focus on God who has solution to their challenges.
