The commissioner for agriculture, Dr Adeola Odedina stated this at the flag off of 2020 wet season Rice harvesting by the State Government supported youth farmers group programme at sowunmi village, mokolokl, at obafemi owode Local Government area this Monday
According to him,the state value chain development programmes and youths agricultural empowerment initiative will be supported through counterpart funding and free supplementary extension support from the state agricultural development programmes OGADEP .
This step,according to the commissioner is geared towards contributing significantly to the state’s agenda on food crops intervention.
Dr Odedina explained that at the pcommencement of the covid 19 lockdown ,the youths embarked on the rice plantation in some of the local government areas in the state known for rice production informing that the efforts produced large metric tonnes of rice currently being harvested.
In his welcome address, the consultant on assisted value chain development programmes, Mr Samuel Adeogun charged the youth to see the programme as an avenue for employment opportunities.
