The Ogun State Government is to set up a safety commission, the commission when established would work with relevant agencies to educate and sensitize people on precautionary measures against emergency and management.
Governor Dapo Abiodun who made this known this Monday said the current administration is also coming up local emergency management Committee across the state to further strengthen the emergency management system.
Speaking at the event commemorating the 2020 World Civil Defense day at the MKO International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta.
The Governor represented by his deputy, Engineer Noimot Salako Oyedele explained that the teams would be visiting schools to train teachers and students on how to manage emergency situations.
The Governor added that each of the Local Government Committee would comprised Council Chairman, heads of security agencies in the area, medical officers as well as representatives of each religion among others.
In a welcome address the NSCDC, State Commandant, Alhaji Hameed Abodunrin thanked Governor Abiodun for supporting the corps especially in the provision of power supply at its new permanent site on Kobape road.
