RESIDENTS TOLD NOT TO PANIC AT THE PANIC AT THE CONFIRMED CASE OF CORONAVIRUS IN THE STATE

Ogun State government has called on resident not to panic as regards the confirmed case of Coronavirus at the Virology Laboratory of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital; Lagos State saying no cause for alarm as it is on top of the situation.

Speaking to newsmen, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Tomi Coker said the said man arrived his place of work in the state on Tuesday developed some symptoms which made the company to contact the virology laboratory pointing out that several tests were run after which it was confirmed to be covid-19.

The Commissioner urged all residents to take individual responsibility for their health by maintaining good respiratory hygiene and cultivating hand washing culture adding that alcohol based sanitize should be used as an alternative to hand washing.

Dr Coker who underscored the need for vigilance at a time like this said alternative medicine should not be an option in the case of corona virus as it is capable of delaying diagnosis adding that whoever has cold or cough should be taken to any of the state hospital and primary health care centers across the 236  wards of the state.

Dr Coker assured that any suspected case  would be attended to by the state’s epidemiologists in accordance with global best practice.

According to her the state government has set up an isolation center within the premises of the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu where there are also consultants, advising residents to call 08188978393 or 08188978392 in case of any suspected case.
