OGUN GOVERNOR ASSURES WOMEN OF PRIDE OF PLACE IN GOVERNMENT

The Governor of Ogun State Prince Dapo Abiodun has re-affirmed that the current administration will continue to give women priority in the scheme of things.

Governor Abiodun made the remarks on Monday at Oke-Mosan while playing host to the co-allition of women who were in his office to demand for the inclusion of 35 percent women in the cabinet.

The Governor explained that since the inception of the administration it has been gender sensitive by appointing large number of women as special advisers and consultants in various fields, adding that the government will continue to appoint an experiences women into important positions.

He described the protest carried out by the women as uncalled for when they have not exhausted the available channels of communication to dialogue with the government before the disturbing act.

For the governor however, advised the women to always get their fact right in future actions.

Earlier the leader of the group Dr Abiola Akinyode said the women carried out the protest to express their grievances over the few number of women listed as commissioner nominee in the list sent to the state house of assembly by the governor last week.

Dr Akinyode appealed to the governor to increase the number of women in his cabinet to between 35 and 40 percent which has been the tradition by the previous government in order to afford them equal representation.
