The suspension of the 57 local Government and local council development areas chairmen in the Ogun State was this Thursday lifted by the house of assembly.
The Speaker the RT Honorable Olakunle Oluomo gave the order at plenary following the motion for the adoption of the report presented by the chairman committee on local Government and chieftancy affairs, Assemblyman Akeem Balogun.
The Speaker however warned the chairmen against engaging in activities that are not in conformity with the oath of their office.
He urged the reinstated local Government, local council development areas chairmen to always keep records of financial and administrative activities.
Earlier, the chairman of the committee assembly man Akeem Balogun said that the suspension of the chairmen was sequel to petitions bordering on financial misappropriation and non performance against the chairmen.
The committee stated that majority of the chairmen were also guilty of non performance. The report adds that the local Government and local council development areas were short changed in the allocations from the federation account by the past administration.
The committee recommended that the chairmen, found culpable, be properly warned against such acts.
