In the quest to further protect lives and property, the authority in the Gateway State is to clamp down on illegal miners.

This is in view of the fact that the illegal miners activities danger the inhabitants of the immediate environment just as such activities lead to ecological disasters.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Kunle Somorin passed this across in a statement this mid-week in Abeokuta.

According to him, all the illegal miners must watch it, and especially stay-off, the first industrial park at Osile-Sofolu village on the Lagos/Ibadan expressway in the Obafemi/Owode local government warning that any vehicle used for illegal mining would be impounded and the owners prosecuted.

Quoting the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Tokunbo Talabi as saying that the industrial park should not be turned into an illegal excavation site, the statement adds that the park was acquired in 2011 to promote the economic development of the State.
