Corruption is the enemy of development and of good governance. It must be got rid of. Both the government and the people at large must come together to achieve this national objective. In Nigeria corruption has bred gross inefficiency in public institutions. It has diminished productivity in both public and private sectors of the economy. It has increased unemployment and inflation, creating an acute degree of poverty, and bringing about a severe decline in the quality of life in Nigeria. To crown it all, it has given Nigeria and Nigerians bad image in the eyes of the international community.
Successive governments in Nigeria have been fighting this scourge but it seems to be fighting back and it is expected. EFCC has been in the news in the recent times for numerous activities in combating the menace but with not encouraging convictions in its kitty and some people have said this is because there is no thorough investigation. Saying for us to win the fight, we must have an agency that will engage in investigation of corruption cases before charging suspects to court. Some have even suggested that EFCC should be made an investigative agency and leave prosecution in the hands of another agency. The place of thorough investigation will form the basis of our discussion this Thursday on OGBC Morning Flight time is 7am. 90.5fm is the frequency. Join us on facebook ogunradio Abeokuta.
