OGUN DEPUTY GOVERNOR COMMENDS EGBA DESCENDANTS ON CONTRIBUTIONS TO DEVELOPMENT.

The contributions of Egba descendants and leaders to the development of Ogun state and the nation at large have been commended.

The Deputy Governor, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedele gave the commendation on Saturday at a reunion marking the 163rd anniversary of the Egba Generalissimo, Balogun Ogunbona Agboketoyinbo organised by the Oba Lupo Mosuleka royal family held at the Olumo tourist complex, Abeokuta.

Engineer Salako Oyedele described Balogun Ogunbona as a distinguished warrior and leader whose values and legacies continue to inspire generations, adding that the dedication and resilience he exhibited as a remarkable leader were unique in the history of Egbaland.

Noting that the reunion provided an opportunity for Egba sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora to strengthen family bonds, the deputy governor added that the event also served as a platform to reaffirm and share values of excellence, unity, cooperation and communal spirit exemplified by Balogun Ogunbona.

She equally encouraged the family of the generalissimo to create a website for the dissemination of information on the life and times of the late warrior, his vision and foresight as well as share ideas on the d deepening of the family’s bond.

In a welcome address, the head of the Ogunbona family, Surveyor Rotimi Ogunbona explained that the need to bring to remembrance, the exemplary leadership and contributions of the late warrior in Egba history necessitated the reunion, calling for concerted efforts of all Egba indigenes towards the development of the land.#
