Women organisations and groups have been charged on the importance of embracing various social media platforms for improved welfare of their members.
The Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedele gave the charge this Friday while playing host to the executives and members of The Criterion, an organisation of muslim women in business and the profession.
Engineer Salako-Oyedele who pointed out that the modern trends in the society have created new opportunities for women to explore as well as opened up different roles for them to play in the society, advised the leadership of The Criterion to be up to date with the effective use of the social media for the organisation to always be relevant to the members.
Emphasising that women make impact and are able to give back to the society when they belong to groups, share ideas and mentor one another for self reliance, the Deputy Governor commended The Criterion for engaging in social intervention and empowerment of women.
In a remark, the International Amirah of The Criterion, Alhaja Medinat Akani explained that the organisation was established over 40 years ago with its focus on the development of women and children through education, health reproduction and empowerment.
She gave kudos to the deputy governor for supporting Governor Dapo Abiodun in coming up with worthwhile programmes for the progress of the state,adding that the national executive meeting of The Criterion is holding in Ogun,being a newly created district of the organisation.#
