The Ogun State house of Assembly will continue to partner the present administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun to improve the living standards of its citizens through appropriate legislation.
The Speaker, the Rt Hon. Oludaisi Elemide made the pledge at a stakeholders’ forum on a bill for a law to improve electricity generation, transmission and distribution within Ogun state, establish an electricity market and key power sector bodies,held on Thursday at the. Chief Olusegun Osoba Press Center, Oke- Mosan, Abeokuta.
The speaker,in his welcome address,noted the enormous challenges of epileptic power supply facing the nation and its effect on socio economic development of the country, saying the determination of the present administration in the state to create an efficient and effective electricity market for the state is commendable.
According to him,the House,in line with its legislative practice and procedure,organized the forum to provide an avenue for stakeholders to participate in an elaborate discussion on the proposed bill and make recommendations for further consideration.
OGBC Lobby Correspondent , Dele Ogunleye reports that the Deputy Chief Whip and sponsor of the bill,Assemblyman Babatunde Tella pointed out that the objective of the bill included creating an efficient and effective electricity market for the state and as well promote and support investment in electric power projects within the state.
Assemblyman Tella also said the bill will facilitate the development and management of sustainable power supply in the state.
