The Ogun state government has called on the federal government for a collaboration to resolve the issue of perennial flooding presently ravaging some parts of the state as the state government alone doesnot have the financial capability to tackle the problem
It therefore appealed to the Ministry of water Resources and Sanitation, that of environment and its counterpart in the ministry of humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development to put up immediate measures to give a relief to the residents of Isheri Riverview Estate in ifo local government adversely affected by the flood that emanated from the excessive water recently released from Oyan dam
Governor Abiodun made the call this tuesday while playing host to the Minister of water resources and Sanitation, Professor Joseph Utsev at okemosan, Abeokuta.
Governor Abiodun who pointed out that the negative impact of the flooding in the state was so enormous explained that the problem has become so worrisome that the ministry needs to assist the state by managing activities at oyan dam to mitigate the problem against future occurrence
The governor assured the minister that as a responsive government who is committed to the welbeing of its citizenry, would partner the federal government towards the success of its clean Nigeria program tailored at encouraging hygiene in the country
Earlier, the minister of Water resources and Sanitation Professor Joseph Utsev in a remark said he was in the gateway state on the spot assessment of the Ogun/Osun river basin facilities as well as to discuss the needed impetus to address issues of flooding that recently ravaged some parts of osun, lagos and ogun states.
The minister promised that his ministry is ready to assertain the main causes of the problem and how it can be prevented to avoid such occurrence the future
