Governor Abiodun Enjoins Muslims to Sustain The Teachings of Ramadan.

The Ogun State governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has advised muslim faithful to sustain the teachings of Ramadan by being generous to the less privileged

Governor abiodun gave the advice on Tuesday at the 2023 annual Ramadan lecture with a theme Trust,an indispensable tool for national development organised by the state government at the arcade ground, Oke mosan ,Abeokuta

Describing Ramadan period as a time for spiritual upliftment, the governor urged the Muslim to use the period to improve on their spiritual capability as it gives room for them to be closer to God

He assured that his government would continue to sustain the yearly program as a rallying point in appreciating the importance of Muslim faithful to the entronment of good governance in the state

Tĥe governor while describing the theme of the event as apt as regards the various challenges the nation faced in the just concluded general elections, promised that his administration would continue to sustain the people’s trust as a fundamental for the socio economic development of the state .

He described trust as indispensable to re-awaken the consciousness of everyone particularly towards establishing trust for a sustainable national development across all strata of the economy.

The governor urged the people to develop trust in government to collectively establish a trust that would further bring about meaningful development to various systems of governance.

The first citizen of the gateway state laùded the guest leturer, professor Abdulrazaq Alaro for the lecture which he said would impact positively on the lives of the people of the state.

Meanwhile, Nigeria has been described as a nation which is richly endowed with abundant human and material resources capable of making it excel in the comity of nations.

It is however worrisome that the country is not recording the expected developmental strides,63 years after independence.

The guest lecturer at the special iftar organised by the state government held on Tuesday at the arcade ground,Oke Mosan,Abeokuta, Professor Abdulrazak Abdulmojeed Alaro stated these.

Speaking on the topic, “trust ,an indispensable tool for national development”,the renowned islamic scholar noted that Nigeria has not been investing in social capital as does in material and human capital,adding that trust has not been existing among the government and the governed as well as the existing government institutions,thereby causing a setback to the development of the entire country.

Professor Abdulmojeed Alaro added that a nation that fails to embrace the principles of trust and transparency cannot attain the desired heights.

While identifying a situation whereby rivalry exists among government agencies as a disservice to the country, the professor of Islamic law said it is high time all stakeholders assessed all factors that constitute a cog in the wheel of achieving sustainable development in Nigeria.
