AS THE NATION PREPARE FOR THE 2023 GENERAL ELECTION, THE OGUN STATE GOVERNOR, PRINCE DAPO ABIODUN HAS CHARGED HEADS OF SECURITY AGENCIES TO COME UP WITH MODALITIES TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE OF ELECTORAL VIOLENCE.

GOVERNOR ABIODUN WHO NOTED THAT PAST ELECTIONS IN THE COUNTRY WERE CHARACTERIZED BY VIOLENCE AND DESTRUCTION OF LIVES, URGED THE SECURITY AGENCIES TO FASHION OUT WAYS TO AVOID SUCH SITUATION DURING THE IN COMING ELECTIONS.

GOVERNOR ABIODUN GAVE THE CHARGE THIS FRIDAY AT A CONFERENCE ORGANIZED FOR SENIOR POLICE OFFICERS HELD AT THE JUNE TWELVE CULTURAL CENTER, KUTO, ABEOKUTA

SPEAKING ON THE THEME, “CREATING AN ENABLING ENVIRONMENT FOR A FREE FAIR, AND CREDIBLE 2023 GENERAL ELECTION IN OGUN STATE, GOVERNOR ABIODUN URGED THE POLICE TO ENGAGE POLITICIANS ON THE NEED TO PLAY BY THE RULE AND DESIST FROM HATE SPEECHES CAPABLE OF HEATING UP THE POLITY.

THE GOVERNOR WHO COMMENDED THE INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE,IGP USMAN BABA FOR THE INITIATIVE SAID THE STATE GOVERNMENT HAS LOWERED THE TEMPO OF POLITICAL ACTIVITIES IN THE STATE BY CREATING A LEVEL PLAYING GROUND FOR ALL THE POLITICAL PARTIES TO CAMPAIGN WITHOUT ANY FORM OF INTIMIDATION OR HARASSMENT WARNING THAT HIS ADMINISTRATION WOULDNOT CONDONE ANY ACT OF VIOLENCE, THUGGERY AND HOOLIGANISM THAT MAY TRUNCATE THE EXISTING PEACE BEING ENJOYED IN THE STATE

THE STATE HELMSMAN ALSO INFORMED THAT HE HAS DIRECTED THE COMMISSIONER OF POLICE TO ENSURE THAT THOSE INVOLVED IN THE BURNING OF THE INEC OFFICE AT IYANA-MORTUARY ARE ARRESTED AND BROUGHT TO BOOK AS A DETERRENT TO OTHERS.

THE NUMBER ONE CITIZEN OF THE GATEWAY STATE WHILE ASSURING THE SECURITY AGENCIES OF ADEQUATE SUPPORT TO DISCHARGING THEIR DUTIES ACTIVELY, URGED THEM TO PROVIDE THE REQUIRED SECURITY MECHANISM FOR THE STATE TO REDUCE CRIMINALITY TO THE BAREST MINIMUM
