National Sports Festival: Ogun State Receives Touch Of Unity


Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun on Saturday, November 12, 2022 received the symbolic touch of unity ahead of the forthcoming National Sports Festival tagged Delta 2022.

The symbolic touch, traditionally goes through the 36 states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory before the commencement of the event.

At the Governor’s office, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun expressed the readiness of the state athletes to add glamour and quality to the multi sports event, and also compete for honours in different categories.

Represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Ogun State, Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo, the Governor noted that his administration is very keen about engaging the youth through sports as a means of discouraging social vices.

He confirmed that the Ogun State government has signified interest in hosting the 22nd National Sports Festival coming up in 2024.

Also speaking, the commissioner for youth and sports, Dr. Kehinde Oluwadare appreciated the governor for his effort in making the sector more viable, he assured that the state athletes will not lack any form of support for the National Sports Festival.

The Director of Sports, Ogun State Sports Council, Mrs Iyabode Rotimi expressed optimism that the State contingent will storm Delta State with a lot of confidence and will do the state proud at the Multi Sports Event.

The National Sports Festival will take place in Asaba, Delta State between November 28 and December 10
