OGSG REAFFIMS COMMITMENT TO MAINTAINING THE STATE’S TERRITORIAL INTEGRITY.

The Ogun state government has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining its territorial integrity as well as securing its borders from all forms of violation.

The deputy governor, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedele gave the assurance on Wednesday at the Ogun Waterside stakeholders meeting organised by the state boundary committee in connection with the recent Ondo state purported approval of the installation of traditional rulers in Irokun, Obimehin,Idigbengben and Araromi Seaside communities in the Ogun Waterside local government.

Engineer Salako-Oyedelewho is the Chairman of the boundary committee, stressed the importance which the government places on its landed area,expressing the determination of the current administration to protect and secure the affected communities from external interference.

While explaining that boundary lines are different from ethnic lines,the deputy governor noted that all the legal documents indicating that the communities in question fall in the Ogun state territory based on their historical inclusion in the Ijebu district Council,will be critically examined,adding that every square kilometre of the state land is precious to the government.

She made it known that the resolutions from the meeting will be forwarded to governor Dapo Abiodun for his consideration after which there will be a bilateral meeting between Ogun and Ondo state governments on the lingering border issue.

The Attorney-General and commissioner for justice, Mr. Oluwasina Ogungbade, the Works commissioner, Engineer Ade Adesanya, their counterpart in the information and strategy ministry, Alhaji Waheed Odusile, the Surveyor-General, Mr. Ebenezer Ewulo, representatives from the ministry of local government and chieftaincy affairs, traditional rulers as well as other key stakeholders from the Ogun Waterside local government attended the meeting held at the deputy governor’s office.#
