A call has gone to the Nigerian Engineers to participate in the decision making process of the country.
This is necessary because Engineers are key professionals whose inputs are key to nation building.
The Deputy Governor, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedele made the call on Thursday in Lagos at the 2022 luncheon of the University of Lagos faculty of Engineering Alumni Association with the theme,”a better UNILAG faculty of Engineering for all generations”.
According to Engineer Salako-Oyedele,it is high time the nation’s indigenous engineers worked towards making the practice more attractive and relevant, describing the luncheon as a right step in promoting the study of engineering in the university.
Also speaking at the event, the Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu noted that funding the education sector is not a task for the government alone,saying alumni associations which give back to their alma maters are partners in progress in the development of the education sector.
In a remark,the chairman on the occasion,Otunba Gbenga Daniel emphasised that the UNILAG faculty of Engineering has a legacy
which must be sustained for the present and future generations.
In a welcome address,the Chairman, UNILAG faculty of Engineering Alumni Association, Engineer Dideolu Falobi said the essence of the luncheon was for the association to contribute to the development of the profession by aiding its study in the ivory tower.
