Ahead of the 13th biennial Nigeria Police games scheduled to hold at the police college Ikeja, Lagos in 2022, the Nigeria police force with hold the inter-zonal eliminations in December.
The event which will see men and women of the Nigeria police force from the 17 police zonal Headquarters slug it out for a chance to qualify for the Police games in 2022 will feature sports such as basketball, football, handball, hockey, rugby, tug of War and volleyball.
At the last Nigeria police games in Awka, there were 12 zonal Headquarters but with the establishment of 5 new zonal Headquarters in May of 2020, the games will be more competitive and exciting.
The 5 new zonal Headquarters are Akure (Ondo/Ekiti Commands), Awka (Enugu, Anambra, Ebonyi), Yenagoa (Bayelsa, Rivers Commands), Maiduguri (Yobe, Borno Commands) and Katsina (Katsina, Kaduna Commands).
The Force Headquarters, Abuja, won the 12th Biennial in Awka, Anambra State capital with 103 gold medals, 70 silver, and 67 bronze to top the medals table with 239 medals ahead of Zone2 that placed second on the medals table with 63 gold, 80 silver and 55 bronze, while Zone 1 was in the third position with 42 gold, 32 silver, and 45 bronze, totaling 119 medals.
The Force headquarters, Abuja will face stiff competition from Zone 2 and we also expect the new zonal Headquarters to spring surprises as they are seen as underdogs.
