OGUN STATE MUSLIM COUNCIL CALLS FOR INSURANCE PACKAGE FOR JOURNALISTS

Ogun State Muslim Council, OMC has commisserated with Ogun State Council of NUJ over the death of its apex head, Comrade Soji Amosun, and by extension, NASS Vanguard Reporter, Tordue Henry Salem who died in Abuja in a mysterious circumstance.

The council in a statement by its Secrerary -General,Alhaji Kamaldeen Akintunde said Salem’s unclear causation of death and the seemingly risky nature of journalistic or media practice call for concern.

The council therefore advocate a compulsory life insurance policy for media practitioners by their employers and media owners to enhance a candid, objective and truthful journalistic practice and for valued nationhood.

The statement observed that both members of the fourth estate of realm passed on at a time media reportage is making a credible impact in the development of human race.

The council therefore paid special tribute to the duo for contributng their quota to the development and advancement of the Press as watch dog of the society.

Meanwhile, the council has charged Ogun NUJ members to pay a last respect to their departed colleague by resolvng their differences amicably for a united and formidable Ogun NUJ.

” Such display of understanding and maturity will promote and guarantee a rancour free practice of the journalistic profession.”, the council said.
