INSECURITY: Ogun state Government Promises To Collabrate with NAVY

As the provision of adequate security is one of the cardinal agenda of the current administration, the Ogun State government has expressed readiness to collaborate with the Nigeria Navy to beef up security at the riverine areas.

The partneship according to governor Dapo Abiodun is necessary to checkmate the influx of miscreants from the coastal towns into ogun waterside and Tongeji Island for the safety of its citizenry and also to attract investment into the area now that government is planning to establish a seaport within the axis

Governor Abiodun made this known on Tuesday while playing host to the officials of Nigerian Navy led by the flag Officer Commanding, Western Naval Command, Lagos, Rear Admiral Jackson Gbassa during a courtesy call at oke- mosan, Abeokuta

The governor who explained that the current administration placed premium on rhe issue of security maintained that the state having the longest coastal front in the country that border Ondo state calls for intensive maritime securiry surveillance

He urged the Naval Boss to assist the state in curbing the problem of kidnapping,cultism and robbery which accordibg to him has been the major problem in the state

The man at the helms of affairs in the gateway state while calling on the federal government to construct a bridge at Tongeji Island for easy passage of the people into the mainland and to reduce the incesant harassment from the neighbouring countries assured that government would continue to partner all the security agencies through the provision of necessary logistics to enhance policing system for the safety of lives and properties across the state

The governor warned criminals to steer clear of the state as any attempt to undermine the security arrangements in the state would be treated with all seriousness.

Earlier, the flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, Rear-admiral Jackson Gbassa thanked Governor Abiodun for his unflinching support to the security outfit, stressing that the purpose of the visit was to tour the formations within his command and to examine its security arcitecture.

The Naval Boss assured the governor that operation Awatse, a joint security taskforce set up by the federal government saddled with the responsibility of protecting the petroleum pipeline from atlas cove to Mosimi in Ogun State would be used to tackle the problem of kidnapping, cultism and robberry within his catchment area

The highlight of the event was the presentation of a patrol vehicle and a car by governor Abiodun to the Naval Head in order to strengten their operations
