The Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has commended President Muhammad buhari for the completion of Nigerian railway new standard gauge of Lagos/ibadan segment.
Governor Abiodun gave the commendation midweek while fielding questions from the newsmen after the inspection of the Abeokuta train station at Laderin estate accompanied by the Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi
The Governor who was full of excitement for being part of president Muhammad Buhari’s administration described the train station as a world class with the provision of necessary infrastructural amenities
He noted that the project was well implemented and coordinated by the president through proper funding expressing optimism that it would enhance movement of people and goods within and out of the state
The governor who explained that the project goes beyond building a railway line said it was an opportunity to provide a modern multimodal transportation system for the people of the state in line with the vision of the current administration in the state
Mr Governor informed that out of the ten established Railway Stations between Lagos and Abeokuta, the state has five stations which according to him would serve as an impetus for the manufacturers in the state to move their finished goods.
Mr Governor appealed to the people of the state to take advantage of the railway station, assuring that government would partner the federal government in creating access for passengers to the train station
Earlier, the Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi said the project has been completed for people’s use.
