Ogun State Government Working On Increasing IGR – Dapo Abiodun

The man at the helms of affairs in the gateway state, Prince Dapo Abiodun has reiterated the commitement of the current administration in expanding its revenue drive for the provision of necessary infrastructural amenities and improvement on the welfare of the state public servants.

Governor Abiodun made the remarks this Friday during a Ramadan iftar organized by the State government for members of the state executive, national assembly members the state lawmakers and board of permanent secretaries at the presidential lodge, Ibara, Abeokuta

The governor explained that the outbreak of the pandemic adversely affected the government internal revenue generatuon of the state being the industrial capital of the nation stating that during the first quarter of the year its revenue collection fell to twenty billion naira.

He attributed the dwindling revenue to the closed down of many factories, non-availability of income tax from the various industries due to the fact that most of their workers are casual labourers and by given most of the industries tax holiday in order to keep them in business

He assured that all hands will be on deck in ensuring that the internal generated revenue hit hundred billion Nara by the end of the year.

Speaking further on revenue generation, Mr governor informed that government would soon launch Ogun State Land Management Agency saddled with the responsibility of regularising the documentation of all the landlords that built on government lands in order to collect land use charge from them.

He submitted that as at the time the current administration assumed office only fourteen thousand landlords were captured on the state database but presently it bas increased to 1.5 million.

Applauding the civil servants for their support, the governor assured that government would continue to channel its resources towards the provision of necessary infrastructural amenities that will be beneficial to the people of the state and also prioritise the welfare of the workers and that of the pensioners.

Governor Abiodun pointed out that the unprecedented achievement recorded within two years was as a result of the commitment and dedicatuon of his cabinet members and the state lawmakers urging them not to relent until the state is totally transformed.

Delivering goodwill messages, a member of House of Representatives from Ado-odo ota Federal Constituency, Honourable Jimoh Ojugbele and the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Honourable Olakunle Oluomo commended Governor Abiodun for the massive development across the state.

They urged members of the state executive, political appointees and the civil servants to form a synergy with Governor Dapo Abiodun by adding value to his spirited efforts of transforming the state.
