The need for Police Reform is said to transcend the recent agitation to end SARS as there has been agitated call for it, arising from inadequate police responses to security issues nationwide well before now.
Receiving former and serving principal officers of the Plateau State House of Assembly today in his office, the lawmaker representing Pankshin/Kanan fed constituency Rep Yusuf Gagdi reminded his former colleagues of how they horned their agitation for police reforms during the dark period of killings mostly in Jos South.
Rep. Gagdi who chairs the House of Reps Committee on Navy confirmed that the push for the reform which reached its peak as the Deputy Speaker of Plateau House of Assembly persisted with him to the Green Chambers, culminating in his sponsoring the Bill for Police Reform, which today had been passed and assented into law.
Rep. Yusuf Gagdi commended his visiting colleagues from the 8th Plateau State Assembly for their show of bondage and promised to continue with adequate representation to his constituency and the the nation.
Earlier, leader of the visiting delegation and former Speaker of the Plateau Assembly, Joshua Madaki described the host as a worthy ambassador of Plateau Assembly in the federal legislature.
He urged Rep Gadji to continue championing people-oriented legislation for which he was known for before coming to the centre. ##ENDS.
